I was born and raised in New Delhi where I had friends who followed different religions and who all used to share their version of origin story and none used to accept any. As we all grew up in secular a society where science was encouraged we came to know about few different and bizarre concepts in our origin story — Theory or evolution , Big-bang , ice ages , Dinosaurs , Pangaea , Neanderthals and many more (that I couldn't remember ) , but there was never a sequence of how these things are related . So what happened on this new year’s eve I came across few religious people and was laughing on how they all believed earth was made in 7 days but meanwhile I realized that these people at-least know and believe in their version and I had none . So I googled a list of book and picked the very first book that was available in my local library about the origin story — Origin Story: A Big History of Everything by David Christian

Origin Story : A big history of everything

The author — David Christian along with Bill Gates is co-founder of The big history project , a project to understand the history of cosmos and everything . The book length was perfect for me , around 350 pages (this is what I like to read without getting bored) . David spoke of complex topics (at-least for me )like entropy and thermodynamics that even a layman could understand physics, philosophy , anthropology , and even paleontology with much ease .

The book is an effort to narrate an origin story of all us the humans , all the life , the earth , the solar system , the galaxy, and the universe . David talks about the Goldilock conditions of how universe as we experience it today came into existence . The book has divided the story of universe into seven thresholds in a chronological order .

The book is a must read for anyone who wants to know about our story . This is a modern origin story which is backed my facts collected using science. The book should be avoided by anyone who believes in mythological stories of creation of our universe . I thoroughly enjoyed the book hope you’ll also feel the same .

Thank you for reading.

C&C are welcome.
